The liquid regulations for flights certainly aren’t going to change any time soon, and now more and more hotels are moving away from providing the mini-toiletry bottles in guest rooms in an effort to be more environmentally responsible. So, what’s a frequent traveler to do when it comes to bringing liquids on trips? The answer is in this TSA-friendly, reusable toiletry bottle from Matador.
The Matador “FlatPak” toiletry bottle boasts a number of features that translate into a seriously awesome piece of travel gear.
First off, the bottles hold 3 ounces of liquid, making them TSA-approved. That small size also makes them very lightweight and compact—each bottle only ways 11.5 grams empty. Plus, the bottles are made of Cordura nylon, so they’re waterproof and extremely durable. That’s something you’ll appreciate as it’s banging around in your carryon luggage.
The cap on the FlatPak is sturdy and wide enough that you can pour shampoo from a standard pretty easily without having to be concerned too much with spills. Plus, those nylon sides will shrink down to fit only the amount of liquid you put in it, which can save you some additional space in your carryon. That same sturdy lid fastens in place and most users agree that it’s foolproof. You won’t have to worry about it leaking or the container itself exploding on your other luggage contents thanks to the welded seams on the bag.
If there’s a downside to the Matador FlatPak, it’s that it only comes in black. Many people buy more than one FlatPak to take on their travels, so keeping the contents organized can be a bit of a challenge when they’re all black. The bottles do come with a tab where the contents can be written down. That additional chore is a pretty small price to pay for such a cool accessory, though.
Prices vary slightly for the Matador FlatPak depending on where you buy, but if you purchase directly from Matador, you can expect to pay around $13 for one bottle, or $35 for a three-pack.
