These Animals Really Didn’t Want Their Pictures Taken

Being a nature photographer is one of the most rewarding jobs you can have. These professionals were invaded upon, robbed, and caught in vulnerable moments. This exclusive look at animals in their shenanigans tells a story like no other.

Space Invaders

This incredible nature photographer just wanted to take a few snaps of the nearby ocean life when a seal snuck up behind him like he wanted someone to spoon with. The seal looks adorable and innocent, and so the photographer can’t help but smile at the awkward situation that has arisen.

The Neck Massage

This photographer was so absorbed in taking pictures of a nearby ant colony that he didn’t even notice the feline pup that discretely climbed on top of his back to give him a massage. Those soft paws must work wonders on tight knots, which is likely which our baseball cap clad friend didn’t mind being climbed on. It’s likely that he didn’t have a three-year-old to walk all over his back in a budget back rub, and so he made do with the next best thing. Someone should probably tell him that they make very good neck massagers….

An Apple for the Teacher

This woman was peacefully taking photos of the nearby daisies and forgot that she had been picking apples and had a bushel of them on her person. These lovely animals smelled the delicately sweet aroma of winter fruit and thought it would be a good idea to put on their puppy-eyed faces on in an attempt to seduce the photographer into sharing her bounty. At this point, this woman looks much more annoyed at being distracted from her project and is highly unlikely to give them even the stem of her apples.

Blushing Hard

This professional photographer was on a safari in Kenya when he realized that he’d lost his convoy while counting the spots on a nearby giraffe. Instead of panicking as a normal human would, this fellow started taking pictures of the elephants sucking up half of a pond with their trunks when a leopard walked by and felt the urge to channel his inner Leibowitz. And so this curious feline carefully observed while many a picture was taken and laughed when he saw his little brother caught nursing on camera. Talk about embarrassing!

Quite the Pickle

Foxy the fox got turned around when on his way back to his home to a nice meal, but he was lucky enough to come across this kind-hearted photographer who was willing to take his picture for the “Lost Fox” poster. The photographer continued to feel sorry for the fox and considered letting him warm up in his photography bag, but soon thought the best of it, and instead awkwardly asked him about the weather. As it turned out, the poor creature got lost in a snowstorm, which then covered up his fox hole. Now to hope that the posters don’t disintegrate during the next blizzard, otherwise both Foxy and the photographer would be in a serious pickle.

The Bear Sandwich

Yosemite is a magical place to spent a weekend with your family or your camera for that matter. Breathtakingly scenic, it puts all the other national parks to shame. However, when they don’t tell you upon arrival is that the park is home to some friendly bears who have a serious sweet tooth. This photographer wasn’t informed of this fun fact and was surprised when two lovely bears came scampering over to have a good sniff at his honey-scented shampoo. Though the bears meant well, there’s something mighty disconcerting about being the filling of a bear sandwich.

The Bluejay and the Potty

It is a little known fact that bluejays are notoriously vain creatures. And so when this chipper bird saw this photographer with a camera that could be used as a perch for checking out the ladies, he knew that he needed to get his attention. The most effective way of doing that was to nearly land on his head and demand that a new selfie be taken for his Tinder profile. The photographer was more than happy to oblige, which makes sense because how often does such as beautiful animal voluntarily get so close to a human? Now to hope that the bluejay doesn’t feel a sudden urge to use the photographer’s head as a toilet.

The Pity Party

This is one of the few instances where we feel sorry for the photographer than for the animal. This donkey was being a bad boy and a glutton when he thought that this camera lens contained his morning meal, and so he decided to stick his head in and start gorging. Little did he know that the lens did not contain a carrot but instead a highly complex and expensive piece of equipment designed to capture moments in time like this one. The poor photographer will need a new lens, hence the pity party, but he has the privilege of having caught a dentist’s view of the donkey’s mouth.

Stupid Little Paws

This hungry fox was digging through the snow to find the next rabbit that he could get his little paws on. This was already no small feat given that the paws in question are quite small, a frustrating fact for this young animal. So, angry as he was, he decided to keep looking, but instead of seeing the telltale ears of his delicious prey, he found a photographer doing some preying of his own. Of all the creative solutions people come up with to take the perfect picture, this has to be the most dedicated.

Shoo Fly, Don’t Bother Me

With their tiny brains, it makes perfect sense that squirrels aren’t the brightest of creatures. So when this cute little fellow saw the hooded photographer checking the day’s pictures, he thought that he was cracking some walnuts and scampered over to steal what was his current favorite food. Though all nuts were his favorite food, he mused, and any that could be acquired without any effort beyond stuffing your face was a good one. Unfortunately, this squirrel will be in for an unpleasant surprise when the photographer turns his head and shoos him away.

Kissing Practice

This woman certainly has a way with animals, which makes sense because she grew up on a farm and spent her days frolicking in the fields. So when this cute little guy came over to try to steal the gum out of her mouth, she was endeared and instead of being grossed out, took the situation in stride and started practicing kissing. Perhaps she couldn’t find another partner to help.

A Losing Battle

This unlucky photographer (not pictured) found herself in a game of tug-o’-war with one of the creatures with the strongest bite on the planet. The mountain lion has no intention of letting go, and in fact, fully intends to start taking touching family photos to hang at the entrance of the cave. Now if he could just turn this dratted thing on…

A Taste of Their Own Medicine

Leave it to the lioness to master photography in one measly afternoon. Still, she may have caught on by observing all of those invasive photographers who get a kick out of watching her eat a zebra like they had nothing else to do. So instead of taking primal revenge of them, she gave them a taste of their own medicine and started taking pictures of them while they were having a picnic.

Say Cheese!

This brazen fox took full advantage of having escaped his predator and started celebrating by snapping her picture from his hidey-hole. What a great moment of satisfaction, but his cheek will have consequences if he doesn’t exercise some humility. The fox should be looking for a more permanent home if he wants to survive a future intrusion. Still, let the little guy have his moment of glory.

Caught in Foggy Mess

Taking photos out in nature is always a bit of a gamble. You might be lucky and leave with some perfect pictures of deer frolicking in the woods on a lovely summer day, or you can get caught in a foggy mess without a single decent picture and your shoes covered in mud. But it could be worse, you could also end up with a wolf on your head just as you were about to catch a shot of a monkey giving birth.

Creating Promos

Not all squirrels are created equal. As it turns out, this one seems to be bright enough to have been hired to work on the new Matrix and is now in charge of creating a promotional poster for the film. Clearly, that movie hasn’t been played out enough, and so when they ran out of new ideas, they turned to the animal kingdom for inspiration.

The Group Photo

When this fox was asked to take the group photo for his cousin’s wedding, he didn’t think it was going to be such an operation. Most of the time, snapping such pictures takes just a few seconds, but it takes some serious organization to be able to get a group of foxes to stay still enough to take but one decent shot. This fox looks about ready to drop the entire idea along with the camera.

The Bear Cub

When a photographer went off to relieve himself in the woods, he thought it would be safe to leave his camera and tripod. Not so-he came back to find a bear cub curiously looking through the camera to see if the view was any different. This gave the photographer quite the fright, and he had half a mind to leave his gear behind and run like the wind.

A Good Samaritan

This good samaritan of a mountain lion decided to be a sweetheart and retrieve the camera that an ill-fated photographer lost behind some rocks. Quite agile, the feline wanted to be nice and went to collect it, only to find that the photographer had taken off as fast as his little legs could take him. What a shame, the mountain lion really did want to help the poor guy, not realizing what a reputation for violence his entire species has.

Not Worth the Risk

When this guy thought of taking his family on a self-guided trip across Africa, he realized that it wasn’t at all worth the money he saved by not hiring a guide. Instead of being in a fairly well-protected vehicle where he could peacefully take pictures without a care in the world, he is now on the victim of a vicious leopard. Interestingly, the animal looks more interested in the camera than in the man holding it.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall

When the crew from National Geographic started taking pics of this group of monkeys, they didn’t know what was in store for them. The vain pack leader was interested in seeing exactly what these obnoxiously loud people who had woken up the napping infants. And so he made full use of his opposable thumbs to check out their work, much to the crew’s displeasure. This monkey doesn’t look terribly impressed.

A New Found Genius

This monkey is quite the curious fellow and so when he came wandering around this photographer’s camera, the latter’s heart melted and so he lifted him up and showed him the world through his perspective. The monkey seems more than happy to be hanging out with the equipment, giving the impression that he is quite the artistic prodigy.

Underfed and Hungry

When this group of friends went off for an impromptu photoshoot during their post-graduation camping trip, they had no idea what was in store for them. Instead of catching some nice pictures of the scenery and leaving it at that, a huge bear was awoken from his lair from all the raucous the foursome was making and starting chasing after them. Given how underfed this bear looks, can you blame him for going after these delicious looking men?

Mother and Child

This mother and child couple were caught in the most awkward of moments. The calf was just finishing off his delicious meal and went to thank his mother when an impossibly brave photographer went off and got right in their faces without them noticing. One has to wonder whether the artist knows that hippos are among the most dangerous animals in the world.
