Budget Travel: Free U.S. Attractions

Traveling can get expensive between accommodations, flight and food. Therefore, sometimes your budget is lower to visit attractions at your destination. However, there are lots of amazing sites that are free to visit. Here are the budget-friendly sites in the United States.

Liberty Bell Center (Philadelphia, PA)

The Liberty Bell Center is flocked to by thousands of tourists every year, to get a glimpse at the iconic historical symbol of the U.S. Located in the Independence National Historical Park, the Liberty Bell Center is open year-round, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., and admission is free. Visitors must only go through a security screen before entering the building. We also suggest walking across the street to the Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was signed.

Conservatory at Bellagio (Las Vegas, NV)

No matter how much money you may have won, or lost, on your Vegas trip the conservatory in the Bellagio hotel is always free. Horticulturists have created outrageously colorful-seasonal displays. The display contains gazebos, bridges and giant topiaries. Don’t miss the free live musical performance from 5-6 p.m. daily.

National September 11 Memorial (New York City, NY)

Although a somber site, the National September 11 Memorial is one sure to visit. The memorial honors those who passed in the attacks, on September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993, with twin reflecting pools. The memorial is also inscribed with all the names of those who died. Even though admission is free, advance reservations are required.

This is an extremely short list of all the free sites in the U.S. We hope to create another list soon. However, here are a few more honorable mentions: Harley-Davidson Factory Tour (Kansas City, MO), Lincoln Park Zoo (Chicago, IL), and the San Francisco Cable Car Museum, (San Francisco, CA).
