When it comes to taking a trip around the world, most people’s first thoughts likely land on airplanes as the primary source for transportation. Of course, there’s always the option of cruising around the world, too. One thing that most people don’t think about is traveling around the world by train. The truth is, though, circumventing the world by rail isn’t as complicated as you might think.
The key to pulling it off is to book a trip with a company called Railbookers. They’re a custom vacation planner that specializes in vacations by train. Their “Around the World” trip will allow guests to travel across 4 different continents. Travelers will also rack up a visit to 5 national parks and over 20 different cities during their trip.
The trip begins in Chicago, IL. There, travelers will hop on board Amtrak’s Lake Shore Limited. The next stop on the itinerary is New York, where travelers will be given a couple of days to explore the Big Apple before hopping on an airplane and flying across the Atlantic to London. There, guests will board the Eurostar, which will take them to “the City of Lights,” Paris, France. From there, the trains will have you visiting some of the most picturesque cities in Europe, including Geneva, Venice, Rome, Prague, and Hamburg. You’ll also make a couple of stops in Stockholm and Copenhagen.
Travelers will then explore the Russian cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg before settling in for a very long train trip across Mongolia, which ends in China. Once in China, trains will take guests to visit cities from Beijing to Hong Kong.
Another airplane ride will send guests down to Australia, where they’ll board a train for the longest trip offered in the Southern Hemisphere, from Perth to Sydney.
Travelers will then fly back to the United States for a train trip that will take them through multiple National parks, including Grand Canyon National park, Bryce Canyon National Park, and Zion National Park.
Finally, one last trip with Amtrak will bring guests back to Chicago. The total trip will take two months to complete and cost each traveler a little over $19k. Guests will also need to book their own airfare for the plane trips between continents.
